Gustav Vik hadde det moro da han spilte med Tony Finau i pro am på Crooked
Stick i FedEx Cup-avslutningen
2016 BMW Championship Pro-Am
BMW Championship is the third leg of FedEx Cup and hosts only the top 70 players.
The Pro-Am is playing at Crooked Stick Golf Club, Carmel, Indiana. A beautiful
Pete Dye design golf course founded in 1964. The golf course is ranked in the
Top 100 in the Golf Digest ranking.

Spennende å få kjøre en slik doning på en racerbane.
The Pro-Am started with BMW hosting a Pairing Party at the famous Indianapolis
Speedway, where the Indy 500 is held every year. The guests were taking around
the Indianapolis 500 F1 track. You could choose to ride in a BMW M version car
or BMW racing Cup car driven by professional drivers. Believe or not the M
version reached top speeds of 290 kph and the Cup reached the unbelievable speed
of 375 kph on the straight away!

Tony Finau og Gustav "Gus" Vik I pro am
After the racing a lottery was done where Amateur teams had their number drawn
and then 30 seconds to select a player. Sergio Garcia was helping with drawing.
Tony
Finau på første tee
Our number was drawn 44th out of 52; we selected the long hitting Tony Finau.
Tony is ranked 70th in Official World Golf Ranking. He is currently 38th on the
FedEx Cup ranking. He is one of the longest hitter in professional golf in the
world.
We teed off at 14:10 off the 1st tee.
The foursome consisted off Barry Collier, Director of Athletics at Butler
University, Bill Johnson, a technology entrepreneur and myself. Tony’s ball was
hard to see since his ball speed with driver is about 180 mph, with a carry of
about 308 yards. He could push the carry to over 325 yards!
The course is playing 7500 yards for professionals and rough 6700 yards for the
amateurs. The fairways are cut from tee to green making them offer a lot of role.
On the 407 yards 16th hole, I hit a solid drive, leaving 74 yards to flay. I can
assure the reader that I don’t hit the drivers 333 yards! I attribute this to
how the fairways are cut! The greens were rolling at 12.8 feet on the stimpmeter.
The greens were absolutely perfect condition. A good put would go where you want
Tony was very engaged and friendly with all of us. The golf course was in great
shape but had suffered from the extreme heat and humidity the month before the
tournament. We finished 13 under par, the wining group was 15 under par.
Close but no trophy!
Et
hyggelig minne til "Gus" signert Tony Finau
