Hideki Matsuyama vant Waste Management Phoenix Open

Etter fire hull i play off mot Rickie Fowler var det Hideki Matsuyama som kunne løfte trofeet i The Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Trusting the advanced-performance technology of his Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball, Srixon Z945 Irons (4-PW), Srixon Driver and Cleveland Golf 588 RTX 2.0 Precision Forged wedges (52*, 56* and 60*) the 23 year old Japanese superstar was in imperious form down the closing stretch. Refusing to give up the chase, Matsuyama clawed back two shots on the final two holes of regulation play, with must-make birdies to card a final round 4-under par, 67 and take the tournament into sudden-death.

After a par on the first playoff hole, a clutch birdie putt from Matsuyama on the second playoff hole, in front of record crowds, took the showdown to a third extra hole. With both players paring the 10th hole it was on to the driveable par 4 17th again, where a par proved enough for Matsuyama to claim a hard fought victory and the winner's cheque for $1,170,000.00.

The win vaults Matsuyama up to 10th position in the FedEx Cup standings and up from 19th to 12th place in the Official World Golf Rankings
