Her er pressemeldingen:

Evian Tour ban hot drivers

(Tytherington, January 25 2003) The Ladies European Tour will be adopting the new ruling from the R&A to ban the use of "spring effect" drivers this season.

Starting at the ANZ Masters Tournament on Australia's Gold Coast, drivers such as the Callaway E.R.C and Taylor Made "R" series will be forbidden for use in any event on both the LPGA and LET Tours.

Huw Jones, a Senior Tournament Director for the LET stated:

"After careful consideration and consultation with the Tour Players' Council, and to be consistent with the LPGA, the LET will be adopting at all Tour events this year a new 'Condition of Competition' which deals with the 'Spring-like' effect of Driving Clubs."

The new ruling, introduced by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews last season, prohibits players from using Driving Clubs with a Coefficient of Restitution (COR) greater than 0.830.

The new ruling on the LET states: 'Driving Clubs with a loft of 15 degrees or less must not have a coefficient of restitution greater than 0.830 when measured on apparatus approved by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.'

The penalty imposed for any breach of this ruling is disqualification.
